Salieri Circus Awards: Beyond What We Believe Possible
International Salieri Circus Award 2026 like earlier editions brought together extraordinary international artists who explore the boundaries between circus, physical expression, and contemporary art. It is a celebration of circus as a living, evolving art form — one that combines technical mastery, artistic vision, physical discipline, and the courage to transform the seemingly impossible into reality.
The spirit of the festival extended far beyond the stage. Around the Salieri Theatre throughout the surrounding spaces, created an atmosphere in which art becomes part of everyday life.
Circus caravans evoke the travelling traditions of circus culture, while an open-air photography exhibition pays tribute to the artists whose bodies, expressions, and movements tell stories beyond words.
Through my photographs, I seek to capture not only the performances themselves, but also the fleeting moments in which movement becomes emotion, physical strength meets vulnerability, and artistic precision gives way to something spontaneous and deeply human. A gesture, a glance, the tension of a suspended body, or a moment of stillness can reveal as much about an artist as the most spectacular movement on stage.
For me, photographing circus is an ongoing exploration of the relationship between the human body, space, light, and emotion. It is about observing what happens between the expected moments — the expressions, the details, and the fragments of a performance that might otherwise disappear in an instant. Through a documentary perspective combined with a cinematic and artistic approach, I aim to preserve these moments while conveying something of the atmosphere and intensity of the live experience.
The Salieri Circus Awards reminds us that circus is far more than spectacle. It is a testament to human potential, imagination, resilience, and the extraordinary things that become possible when discipline meets creativity. The artists invite us to question the limits we impose on ourselves and to reconsider what we believe the human body and spirit can achieve.
Ultimately, beyond what we believe possible lies the space where art begins to surprise us, move us, and change the way we see the world.
